Join us for a 6 part drop-in series at the Dance Quarter as we explore the Louisiana Waltz, 2-Step variations, and all that ZYDECO has to offer! Come with no experience at all or come with experience to share with all. This is a partnered dance style, and participants rotate partners throughout the class. You’re welcome to attend with or without a partner—much like in a social dance setting. Learning happens not only through dancing, but also through observing, listening, and being present, all of which are essential parts of the experience.
Here we go again!

Tuning Up For Festival Season
While the primary focus of is to get you moving with Louisiana’s signature dance styles — the Waltz, 2-Step, Zydeco, and more — we’ll also explore the rich cultural roots and historical nuances behind them, including Creole, Cajun, Zydeco, Zydecajun, Swamp Pop, La La, Fais Dodo, Jitterbug, Besbas, Whiskey River, and so much more.
The waltz, 2-step(s), and zydeco dance styles in the creole state of Louisiana are as diverse as the music, food, language, and the people who commingle and inhabit the region. We are passionate about helping you tap into the depth of Louisiana’s cultural roots. Our lessons strive to offer dancers an environment that is supportive, encouraging, and empowering for each individual and in partnership.
